Going to university means that many students assume, for the first time, responsibilities associated with living outside the family group, such as controlling eating habits. A survey was conducted among 161 university students in order to find out their perceptions regarding their type of diet, their knowledge of nutrition issues, their consumption of ultra-processed foods, and to evaluate the Nutri-Score labeling system as an aid in choosing healthier products. This is a cross-sectional observational study. Participants who have the perception of following a healthy diet show a more adequate BMI, regularly practice sports and read labels (nutritional information, expiration date, and ingredients). In general, the university students surveyed do not read the labels (64%) and find it difficult to identify the degree of wholesomeness of what they consume. Furthermore, they buy products based on the external information on the packaging (72%). The consumption of ultra-processed products, such as alcohol and soft drinks, is higher in those who live outside their family homes. The Nutri-Score labeling system is perceived as an aid for better product choice (89%).
Interactivity in television (and sustainability, thanks to virtualization) is a growing phenomenon, driven especially by the implementation of the HbbTV (hybrid broadcast broadband television) standard. Networks, media agencies and advertisers are trying to adapt to and profit from the options generated by the interaction with the viewer. Through an experimental methodology including the viewing of an advertising block which included conventional and interactive advertisements, the emotions of the viewer were collected. It was concluded that the order of the announcements is not decisive, that the emotions of anger and sadness predominate over those of joy due to a negative predisposition towards viewing advertising proposals and the content of the advertisement itself, and that less intrusive formats are more accepted.
The television medium has traditionally been the revenue engine for the advertising sector, and the way to build audio-visual culture. The emergence of hybrid television, led by the HbbTV standard, is generating a scenario of increasing interactivity and customization. This research tries to detect the main motivating factors and future trends in the relationship between television and interactive advertising, in a new interactive communication scenario. Methodologically, the qualitative technique of Delphi is used, the most advisable in prospective approaches to incipient objects of study. The consolidation of smart TV on demand, the lower relevance of television in classical terms as a basic medium for advertising but greater with interactivity, the growth of branded content and the adaptation of the message to the medium are concluded.
The emotional reactions to interactive advertisements are a relatively new study object, attending the synchronous evolution of the natural interactive platforms. Interactivity has increased thanks to Internet usage, and it can be also attractive for political communication. In television’s case, it is a growing phenomenon whose main launcher is the implementation of the Hybrid broadcast broadband Television (HbbTV) standard. Key players of the sector (networks, media agencies, and advertisers) try to take profit from the options generated by the interaction with the audience. We have developed an experimental methodology that consists of viewing an advertising block that includes conventional and interactive advertisements in order to observe the emotions that those generate in the audience. The experiment included the view of a nine advertisement block and the analysis of face reactions linked to emotions. It is concluded that surprise emotion via humor does not make it easier to capture attention during the broadcast of a sequence of advertisements and identify the advertisement, and humor increases relatively interest in interactive advertisements.
