The current work was carried out to evaluate the biological effects of five insect growth regulators; applaud (buprofezin), consult (hexaflumuron) and match (lufenuron) as chitin synthesis inhibitors (CSIs), mimic (tebufenozide) as ecdysone agonist (EA) and admiral (pyriproxyfen) as juvenile hormone analogue (JHA) against the housefly M. domestica. The IGRs were applied by feeding the 1 st instar larvae on diets mixed with the selected IGRs at different concentrations (10, 100, 1000 and 2000 ppm). The results demonstrated that mimic and admiral were the most effective compounds and induced 100 % larval mortalities at 2000 ppm. Mimic was the most toxic compound and its toxicity index was 100.The tested IGRs induced a significant prolongation in the larval and pupal duration. The percent pupation was highly decreased compared to the control. All the tested IGRs induced a reduction in the pupal weight as well as a reduction in the adult emergence, which was completely inhibited at 1000, and 2000 ppm. All the tested IGRs caused a significant decrease on the longevity of both sexes as compared to the control. The fecundity and fertility greatly decreased and the sterility increased with the all tested IGRs. Admiral was more effective than the others.
BBN Technologies designed an algorithm called Swift Start for TCP to mitigate the start up problem. Some drawbacks face that algorithm. This paper introduces a modification to that algorithm then it will evaluate the modified swift start TCP congestion control algorithm analytically and by simulation and then it will compare between its performance with that of slow start TCP and the original swift start in different network bandwidths and different path delay for single stream and multiple simultaneous streams.
Abstrac tA new switch-node architecture for data traffic for integrated services in a Loca l Area Network (LAN) is proposed . Specifically it has been designed to provide servic e to the following two broad types of traffic :1. Connectionless service for Interactive Data (ID) traffic .2. Connection-oriented service for Non-Interactive Data (NID) traffic .The topology of the switch-node is a bus . The key feature of the proposed scheme is the centralization, which has been exploited to provide the requisite flexibilit y for handling every class of traffic . The shared transmission medium is a short hig h speed bus which enjoys a fundamental advantage relative to distributed approache s in that the propagation delay along the length of the bus is smaller than the transmission time of a single bit . This feature can be exploited to provide simplicit y and efficiency in accessing the transmission medium . The performance of the proposed media-access scheme and the centralized scheduling policy for interactive an d non-interactive data traffics have been analyzed through simulation . The simulation study shows the actual efficiency of the switch-node, and proves that the propose d concurrent dual buses switch-node architecture with its centralized scheduling polic y is a strong candidate to form the core of an efficient ISDN .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
