HPP (Hydropower Projects) are very complex and risky in nature. For HPP, it is extremely important not only to identify risks but also to adopt proper mitigation measure to complete the project with in defined schedule and budget. Attempt has been made in this paper to identify critical risks associated with Dasu HPP and their mitigation measure to complete the project within predefined time and budget. The research methodology involved the questionnaire survey for identification of potential risks with their probabilities and impact. Pert-Master (Oracle Risk) software was used for simulation purposes. After feeding all data in the software, Monte Carlo simulation was run at 1,000 iterations to generate most probable duration of project, most probable cost of the project, critical risks sensitive to duration, critical risk sensitive to cost and statistically analyzed critical tasks/activities, which need due consideration for successful completion of project. Simulated schedule and budget was compared with planned one to find possible deviations, which may be eliminated by using mitigation measures proposed in the last section of the paper.
Globally, the building sector consumes approximately 60% of the total energy usage, while the energy consumption of residential buildings lies between 20% to 40%. The majority of this energy is operational energy, which comes mainly from the heating and cooling of houses. Innovative and cost-effective insulation materials have the potential to reduce the operational energy requirements and can therefore make the buildings more energy efficient. In this study, three commonly available insulation materials were experimentally evaluated for a case study of residential buildings, located in a cold region of Pakistan. Glass wool, extruded polystyrene, and polyethylene were used, as insulation materials, for monitoring the case study building performance. Thermal data were collected for 21 days in the year 2019 using a Testo Saveries System and were then used for analyzing the thermal performance of each of the three types of insulation materials. Other relevant data including the cost of insulation materials, thickness, ease of application, design life, and fire resistance of the selected insulation materials were obtained for broader (based on the scorecard) analysis based on a multi-weighted decision model. It was concluded that Polyethylene was the most economical insulation material amongst the others, which also showed the best thermal performance. Polyethylene was also found to be the best insulation material for the case study building based on a multi-weighted decision model and, hence, is recommended for application in buildings around cold regions of Pakistan.
Aligarh Movement can rightly be considered as the torchbearer of modern trends in Urdu literature as it introduced new trends in Urdu literature hitherto non-existent therein. The efforts of the exponents of the movement expanded the horizons of Urdu literature beyond poetry that too, in the past, was limited only to the praise of the beloved; it enabled Urdu literature to open up its folds to embrace new realities of life, thus paving the way for a utilitarian view of literature. It is justifiably credited with for laying the founding stone for new movements in Urdu Literature like Romanticism, Progressive Movement, and Halqa Arbab-e-Zauq. This movement is so prolific and holistic in its nature that it lefts imprints on every field of Urdu Literature and even after the lapse of more than 150 years, it is still relevant while finding out historic and literary genesis of various trends in Urdu literature.
All state governments make their efforts, at their levels, to curb the hazard of corruption. Financial corruption is a menace to every society. Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China awards the punishment of death to the culprits of heinous financial corruption. In Pakistan, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Accountability Bureau (NAB), and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) are making their best efforts to eradicate this evil. Islamic jurisprudence provides only limited offenses where the death penalty is settled as punishment. Whether Islam can adopt this punishment, is a question, not considered by early Muslim jurists in their academic works. The Qur’anic conception of punishments is broad enough to accommodate the needed adjustments, which this article attempts to do. This research helps facilitate legislature to handle the question of whether or not it can award the death penalty to financial corrupts in light of Islamic injunctions.
The communicative behavior of people is one of the main concerns of linguistics, which is an established branch of knowledge in the context of intercultural communication. This research paper aims to examine some important features of the communicative behavior of the Russian and Pakistani societies. Interviews were conducted with survey participants who were well aware of Russian and Pakistani norms, culture, and languages. The methodological principle of the contrast of the description of communicative behaviors of both communities was followed, which allowed the most reliable identification and description of both similar and dissimilar signs of the communicative behaviors. Aset of norms and cultural specifics are also identified, which are very important to follow in each culture.Understanding the communicative behavior of both cultures helps improve communication competence and reduces aggression and conflict during communication among native speakers of both languages, especially students studying in exchange programs in both countries.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
