This study aims to identify the effect of remittances on economic growth. The objects used in this study are five ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand, for the period 2005 to 2016. There are other variables, namely gross fixed capital formation, household consumption expenditure, trade, and population growth which are used as control variable in this model. This study uses a quantitative approach and panel data methods. As a result, there are significant and negative effects on remittances: significant and positive effects on gross fixed capital formation, significant and positive effects on household consumption expenditures, significant and positive effects on trade, and significant and negative effects on population growth on economic growth in five countries. Globalization makes technology and information more developing. Along the development of the technology and information, business environment is being dynamic and can change so fast. In the banking sektor, to face dynamic business environment, the Bank needs to evaluation and correction the performance of the company so that the bank can survive in competition. Strategy bank to stay survive is merge, merger or acquisition.Indonesia in 2000-2011 there was 19 cases of merge. This study will be researched the bank's financial performance before and after the merger / acquisition and will be measured using CAMELS ratio. And to know the bank's financial performance, the CAMELS ratio will tested using Paired Samples Test. Result of study show that that after merger on = 5% only LDR which have significant differences, but the other ratios no significant differences in financial performance of banks. So there is no positive improvement in the financial performance of the bank in Indonesia after merger/acquisition.
Since local autonomy regulation have been implemented efectively in one year, but empirically it still has many euphoria coming from institution process and Local Government management. Weak commitment and unclear strategic implementation of Local Government for value creating system cause poor quality of good governance and public accountability. This article presents an idea for a paradigm of Local Government strategic role through value creating system.
