COVID-19, which emerged in December 2019, has affected the entire world. Therefore, COVID-19 has been a subject of research in various disciplines, especially in the field of health. One of these studies was the report made by the Deep Knowledge Group (DKG) consortium in which safe regions for COVID-19 were determined. In the report, the main criteria of quarantine efficiency, government efficiency of risk management, monitoring and detection, health readiness, regional resilience, and emergency preparedness are used in the evaluation of countries and regions (alternatives). As the data and research structure used in this report are based on multi-criteria, the purpose of this study is to evaluate and analyse the safety levels of 100 regions in the world in terms of COVID-19 using Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), Vise Kriterijumsa Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) and Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) methods. The data and information required in the methods were obtained from a report prepared by the DKG. The results of the methods were compared with the ranking results presented in a report of the DKG. Accordingly, it has been observed that the method that provides the closest results to the results of the report is the COPRAS method, and the method that gives the most distant results is the VIKOR method.
The goal of lean production is to save costs, produce products in various quantities, and cancel out all kinds of wastes. The lean production system, developed as an alternative to the western style production system, also takes place in the literature as an alternative application of traditional production systems. In this context, the main purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility and awareness of the lean production concept, which is widely accepted and applied in various sectors especially in developed countries, in Turkey. Within the framework of this purpose, the barriers that businesses face in lean production awareness and lean production practices have been measured on the sample of textile companies operating in Gaziantep province. Within the scope of the study, questionnaires were sent to 150 textile companies and 52 responses were received. As a result of the analysis, it was found out that most of the enterprises are not fully informed about lean production and their awareness of this production approach is at a medium level. Besides, it was determined that lean production practices differ according to the scale and capital structures of enterprises and market structures in which they operate.
Natural environment practices attract attention in today's increasing competitive environment, and they are widely approved in practice. These practices have gained importance in customer and consumer dimension and accordingly the competition has evolved in this direction. One of the enviromental issue that has become current with the addition of "green" practices to supply chains is green supply chain management (GSCM). GSCM has been studied and examined in various ways with various studies. In this context, the question of the present research was formed as "whether environmental performance (EP) has a mediation role in the effect of GSCM practices on business performance (BP)". Accordingly, the purpose of the present research is defining the relationships between GSCM practices, EP and BP of business that operate in the automotive industry in Konya province. In accordance with this purpose, a questionnaire was implemented on the businesses operating in automotive industry selected through simple random sampling, and the hypotheses were tested. According to the results of the analyses, there are statistically significant and positive relationships between GSCM practices, EP and BP. Additionally, GSCM practices have a positive and significant effects on BP and EP, and EP has a positive and significant effect on BP. Finally, EP has a partial mediation role in the effects of GSCM practices on BP.
Smart cities are included in the literature as a technology-based concept that has been on the agenda in recent years and whose framework is constantly changing with the changes in technology. There are different frameworks and indexes to define the smartness of a city. Smart City Index 2021 published by Institute for Management Development (IMD) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is one of the accepted studies in the world. In the report of Smart City Index 2021, 118 cities are evaluated in five criteria namely health & safety, mobility, activities, opportunities (work & school) and governance. To re-evaluate the cities and compare the results, a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) process including Entropy based Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) and Addivite Ratio Assessment (ARAS) methodology is applied in this paper. To prioritize the criteria, entropy weight method is used. 118 cities are ranked both technologically and structurally using the COPRAS and ARAS method. As a result of the analyses, according to these methods, the rankings of the smart cities are the same. Also, when technologically smart cities are listed, it is determined that the first three countries are Zhuhai, Shenzhen, Nanjing, and at the same time, Abu Dhabi, Chongqing, Hangzhou in terms of structurally.
