Prediction of the amount of production can be done by forecasting demand and using appropriate methods. The supply chain studied at ABC company consists of manufacturing (vendors) and sales offices. Initially forecasting is done at each level of the supply chain with different forecasting methods. Therefore, uniform forecasting methods are needed for each supply chain actor. Based on testing the forecasting method conducted, the Winter’s Method. The model is used to link forecasting and implementation using the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) approach. Inventory planning in the supply chain cannot be done individually and must be thought of as a coordinated system. Inventory control is done by using the optimal lot calculation, namely Economic Order Quantity (EOQ). Based on demand forecasting and optimal lot determination, it can be calculated the value of the Bullwhip effect that occurs after the use of VMI in the supply chain has changed from 1.359 to 0.514 at the Manufacturing level.
The design stage is the greatest stage in determining quality of a product and production process cost. Manufacturers have to apply the concept of supporting the optimization of raw material to produce good quality products at competitive prices. Modularization is an approach to simplify complex products and processes become more efficient. Use modular design in a product can help reduce the capital investment of nearly 50% and lead time by 30%. Modular design is an important element in the design of the product life cycle. The design life cycle of an activity that aims to minimize the environmental burden. For example, upgrading, reuse, remanufacture, and recycle. The design life cycle is one approach that supports environmental care, especially to maintain the availability of raw materials in the future. By applying the modularization strategy and design life cycle, it can be a good solution to minimize the use of raw materials in the production process. This paper proposes a conceptual framework for evaluating the design of the product life cycle in all phases of the supply chain. This paper also features a case study on several companies. Case studies can provide a real picture of the implementation of the strategy and design modularization of the product life cycle in the manufacturing industry.
The facility layout problem is one of the design problems involving the assignment of facilities (e.g., machines, departments) to planar region (e.g., a plant) so as to achieve the objectives such as to minimize the cost of projected interaction between facilities or to maximize the closeness rating, etc. Layout has a significant role on the efficiency of manufacturing systems. This research use Cellular Manufacturing System to solve the layout design problem. Selection of this method because Cellular Manufacturing is an flexible alternative solution for complex and automated manufacture tools. Component movement and total distance can be reduced. Cellular manufacturing system have a philosophy that similar component identified and grouped to take advantage from similarity. By study result, manufacture cell grouping reduce total distance from 411.51 m to 335.14 m.
Kabupaten Sidoarjo memiliki wilayah tambak yang luas, sehingga potensi perikanannya juga melimpah, salah satunya ialah ikan lele. Sehingga diperlukan pemberdayaan mengenai pengolahan produk ikan lele. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Panti Asuhan Laksamana Moeljadi, Sidoarjo dan diikuti oleh anak-anak panti tersebut. Permasalahan yang ada ialah kurangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan mengenai inovasi produk makanan ikan lele. Tujuan kegiatan ini ialah memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mengenai cara mengolah produk ikan lele, yaitu siomay ikan lele. Sosialisasi dan demonstrasi merupakan metode yang diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini. Kegiatan ini berjalan dengan lancar serta bermanfaat bagi anak-anak panti asuhan. Anak-anak panti asuhan jadi mengerti bagaimana potensi ikan lele di daerahnya, serta menambah keterampilan mereka dalam mengolah ikan lele menjadi siomay yang dapat dijual.
