The simplicial LS-category of a finite abstract simplicial complex is a new invariant of the strong homotopy type, defined in purely combinatorial terms. It generalizes to arbitrary simplicial complexes the well known notion of arboricity of a graph, and allows to develop all the machinery of algebraic topology which is costumary in the classical theory of Lusternik-Schnirelmann category.2010 Mathematics Subject Classification. 55U10, 55M30, 05C70.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
