Investigations have shown a marked likelihood that a patient with Klinefelter's syndrome is the father of a son, and it is not unlikely that he is also the father of another, now deceased, son.Owing to the relatively common finding of positive sex chromatin in male infants and the striking paucity of cases showing Klinefelter's syndrome, the present case is presumably not excessively rare.
Subacute and chronic affections of the myocardium due to non-penetrating injuries have in the past been regarded as extremely rare. Traumatic rupture of the cardiac valves, papillary muscles, and chordc tendine are described in detail in most textbooks; yet isolated myocardial and pericardial lesions, though undoubtedly more common, are scarcely mentioned except in more recent manuals dealing with diseases due to trauma, such as those by Stern (1930), Brady andKahn (1937), and Spicer (1939). Summary.
A new method for determining the above‐mentioned constants evolved by V. JOHANSEN and I. OSCAR NIELSEN has been published.
An exposition is given of the theory for oscillating systems of one degree of freedom known from physics.
Tables and curves are calculated showing the amplitude‐and phase‐distortion caused by recording instruments of different degrees of damping influenced by varying relative frequencies.
The relations between the degree of damping, the ratio of damping, the logarithmic decrement and the overshot have been calculated.
The consequences for the choice of recording instruments for given purposes have been outlined.
The consequences for the construction of suitable recording instruments have been pointed out.
Methods for determining the natural undamped frequency and the degree of damping from forced and free vibrations have been given.
The paper presents the general part of the theory for the elastic liquid‐containing membrane manometer.
A search of the old literature does not disclose any facts which would lead us to abandon Zuntz's theory modified in accordance with modern physicochemical requirements. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
