The issue of violence against women has been able to be on the social agenda particularly through support of media courses. However, although the violence against woman well-represented in the media and echoed in the political arena, due to the traditional, local and cultural codes the struggle against the violence has not been successful and the social sensitivity has not been developed. Therefore, this study, aims to analyse the role of an NGO, which works for women rights in Turkey, in women studies and its eligibility in answering the problems regarding the gender issues. The theoretical background has been based on the feminist existentialism. The methodology, being structured on the conservative and feminist point of view, semiotically analysed the visual and written campaigns of the Women and Democracy Association (KADEM). Although the results demonstrate the success and attractiveness of KADEM's campaigns, the setup of their operations was formed within the context of conservative ideology and traditional dynamics.
