This study aims to empirically examine the effect of intellectual capital on the performance of firm and competitive advantage as a mediating variable. Firm performance used in this study measured using Return On Asset (ROA), and Return On Equity (ROE). While intellectual capital is measured by using VAIC™ method developed by Pulic (1998). Competitive advantage is measured by cost of R&D. This study used a sample of banking companies listed on the Stock Exchange period 2012-2015 using purposive sampling method. The data used were obtained from the annual financial statements of banking companies listed on the Stock Exchange. The method of analysis used in this study is multiple regression analysis. This method was chosen because all of the data is matrix variable. The results of this study indicate that VAIC has significant effect on ROA. ROA has a significant effect on competitive advantage, and competitive advantage has the effect of mediation on the VAIC and ROA.

<em>State Owned Enterprise (SOE) is one of the agents of economic activity in the national economy of Indonesia that has an important role in managing the national economy in order to realize the welfare of society. At present, SOEs have often received critical attention from the public because they are seen as inefficient, wasteful of resources utilization, laden with corruptions, and have a lowerlevel profitability. The implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and the right of business strategy are expected to improve the performance of SOEs both financially and non-financially. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of GCG imple-mentation and business strategy on firm performance. In this study, financial performance was measured using Return on Equity (ROE) and non-financial performance used Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). The method used in this research is a partial regression of panel data through the determined of the estimation model after the classical assumption test. The sample used in this study was 22 SOEs (BUMN) that met the sample criteria. The results showed that there was a significant effect of the implementation of GCG on ROE and CSI. But, there was no significant effect of the implementation of its’ business strategies on ROE, otherwise the significant effect on CSI.</em>

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Islamic social reporting, ukuran, dan jumlah rapat DPS terhadap manajemen laba di perbankan syariah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, secara simultan Islamic social reporting, dewan pengawas syariah, dan jumlah rapat dewan pengawas syariah memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap manajemen laba pada perbankan syariah. Pengaruh tersebut cukup kuat dengan kontribusi yang diberikannya sebesar 88,4%, sedangkan 11,6% sisanya merupakan besarnya kontribusi pengaruh dari faktor lainnya yang tidak diteliti. Secara parsial, dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Islamic social reporting tidak memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap manajemen laba pada perbankan syariah, (2) dewan pengawas syariah tidak memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap manajemen laba pada perbankan syariah, dan (3) jumlah rapat dewan pengawas syariah memiliki pengaruh negatif yang signifikan terhadap manajemen laba pada perbankan syariah

Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world. This issue gives Indonesia has an excellent opportunity to develop the halal industry. Indonesia's halal industry is still inferior when compared to predominantly non-Muslim countries. Halal tourism, especially in this case sharia hotels, is one of the business lines that has received significant attention in this modern era. In recent years tourism has become a different trend for various groups; this has led to a demand for travel facilities that do not conflict with Islamic values. The purpose of this study was to study the effect of the application of Maqashid Syariah on Corporate Governance in Sharia Hotels. The research methodology used is a survey. The type of data used in this study is primary data. Analysis of the data in this study was using a simple regression analysis. The study results show that the implementation of Sharia Magashid has a significant influence on good governance and governance in sharia hotel management.
