After adjustment for stage, use of concomitant chemotherapy and Charlson comorbidity scale, age was not a significant prognostic factor for event-free survival and overall survival. Regarding toxicity, after adjusting stage, the use of concomitant chemotherapy and Charlson comorbidity scale, the odds ratios for age against Grade 3 or 4 neutropenia was 0.15 (95%CI: 0.042-0.498; p>0.01) but there was no significant difference observed in anemia, pneumonia, and dermatitis. Conclusion: The patients 80 years or older showed lower acute toxicity and similar overall and event-free survival in this study. Curative lung radiotherapy could be an effective and safe treatment for patients 80 years and older.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
