The possibility of an axisymmetric tandem mirror in which stability accrues from wall stabilization is discussed. It is found that the stability requirements are compatible with thermal barrier requirements so that the thermal barrier plug cell can also provide stabilization. Thus, a single axisymmetric end cell can plug and stabilize a high-beta plasma solenoid. Self-stabilization of the central cell and other magnetic configurations are also discussed.
