Parents' participation in Head Start activities was investigated for its possible effect on their psychological well-being. A pretest and posttest design was used. Results indicated a positive relationship: mothers who participated more reported fewer psychological symptoms, greater feelings of mastery, and greater current life satisfaction at the end of the program year. Implications for policy and research are discussed.
