An electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method was applied for the preparation of superconductor Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O (BSCCO) thin films on silver substrate. Using BSCCO powders with an average particle size of 3.5 μm, the influences of suspension parameters such as solvents, I2 additive and deposition parameters on suspension stability and film microstructure were studied in detail.Studying the effect of different solvents on the structure of BSCCO powder, isopropanol is the best dispersion solvent.Through the optimization of the I2 concentration, the results shows that the optimal concentration of I2 is 0.08mg mL-1. The processing parameters critically influencing the morphologies of BSCCO films are identified and optimized to obtain uniform films with high packing density of BSCCO particles. After heated at 820°C for 20 hours, the smoothest surface morphology, high c-axis orientation, and highest critical temperature(Tc) of 82 K are obtained from the film prepared with optimized suspension.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
