The research paper has focused on the darker side of social media in regards to the tourism industry in Malaysia. The research aims to shed light on the darker sides of social media and its negative impacts on the Malaysian tourism industry. Social media creates both positive and negative impacts. However, the positive sides of social media are well investigated but not many researchers focus on the negative sides of this media. The objective of this research was to evaluate the negative impacts of social media on the tourism sector in Malaysia. The study has been conducted to find out the adverse impacts of social media on the tourism sector of Malaysia. The thesis statement is that social media has stimulated the incidences of cybercrimes in the Malaysian tourism sector. Both secondary and primary research methods were used for the study. Secondary research was conducted by reviews of different pieces of literature like research papers, journals and news articles, etc. For primary research survey technique was used to conduct quantitative research. The result shows that the growths of social media endorse cybercrime among Malaysian society. The Malaysian tourism industry has affected significantly by incidences of cybercrime as the growth of social media in this country stimulates the augmentation of cybercrime in this tourism industry. In the last few years, it is evident that the amount of internet users is increased dramatically, and simultaneously the users of social media websites are also grown extensively. It stimulates cybercrime. Cybercriminals have stroked the Malaysian Tourism Industry and that resulted in the losses of RM1 billion.

Malaysia over the years has shown huge development by eradicating a huge level of poverty and channelizing its resources in a good way. Immigrants have played a very positive role in this economic development. The main purpose of this research is to visualize the contribution of illegal migrant workers in the Malaysian economy.   The primary and secondary research methods are being used in this research paper to analyses the situation more broadly. The survey technique and the government's reports are used to collect data. The results have shown that unemployment around the globe is the main reason for the illegal migration of the workers. The statistics said that about 2.1 million immigrants are being registered, whereas, about 1 million are undocumented individuals. The studies have shown that these low –skilled workers can contribute to the economy and GDP of Malaysia by 1.1%. This will ultimately help the Malaysians to increase their wage rate and create a large amount of employment in the country. The analysis has also showcased that Malaysia has a higher gross national income per capita than Indonesia.  Some individuals come with proper visas while some come through illegal means. Maximum cases are being reported about the workers who migrate to Malaysia on illegal grounds.  Malaysian people have remarkably gained a great deal of education in the past few years. So for the primary source of laborers, these Illegal migrants are being used with lower skills. This study will help to analyze how much the economic development of Malaysia is dependent on illegal migrant workers.

Based on the data collected from different sources, the findings can be provided as follows an increase in the per capita GDP annual contraction to 92.9% and the stock markets have crashed and are facing a crucial time at the moment. Due do this major challenges faced as travelling has been restricted due to the widespread of this global pandemic since many countries as well as cities and other locations have closed their borders to avoid transportation facility. Throughout all countries all flights are cancelled and global tourism industry is totally stagnant, which increases the possibility of losing job for employees. It affects normal well-being of people who are directly and indirectly involved within the global tourism sector. Hence, in this pandemic situation, side-effects of the corona virus are tremendous and have massive implications in long run of tourism industry.
