The Banggai KKPD is located in the coastal area and small islands of Banggai Regency, Banggai Archipelago and Banggai Laut which has the potential for coral reef biodiversity with a fairly wide expanse of coral reefs along the coast and small islands. The core zone area in the Banggai Conservation Area is 42,879.58 ha or 5.01%. The aim of this research is to provide initial data (T0) related to the health condition of coral reef ecosystems in the core zone of the Banggai Water Conservation Area. This research was carried out for 2 months, namely in October -November 2019, with a total of 10 observations. Coral cover data was collected using the UPT (Underwater Photo Transect) method. The condition of corals in the core zone of the Banggai KKPD varies greatly, ranging from damaged, moderate, to found corals in very good condition. The results of the analysis of coral reefs in the core zone in the Banggai KKPD area have an average percentage value of 29.93% so that the condition of the corals at 10 points is in the "MEDIUM" category. The base substrate cover in Banggai MPA apart from live hard corals was also dominated by dead corals (38.35%) and abiotic components (16.80%) such as sand and coral fractures.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
