The ubiquitous computing-also called pervasive computing-regroups the characteristics of mobile computing and the techniques of context-awareness that are flexible, adaptable, and capable of acting autonomously on behalf of users. However, the pervasive computing introduces a variety of software, hardware and users engineering challenges. The pervasive computing modeling is a new research area. Indeed, we are interested in purposing methodology for modeling pervasive systems. This paper provides an overview of proposed generic model of pervasive information system. We also propose an instantiation process to validate this generic model. The generic model validation is realized by two ways; manually and automatically. The last way is obtained by the creation of automatic system of OWL instantiation. This purposed generic model represents the highest level of abstraction. It only presents the general concepts of pervasive system.
In this paper, we present a feature of our information system which provide different results for users even they submit the same query. This differentiation is due to a main input taken in consideration: the user’s age. Besides of this input, results differentiation is based on the centralized document valorization defined in this paper. A centralized Web document’s content is mainly concise and focusing on the user interests materialized by keywords query. While an information retrieval process, web documents are ranked according to their relevance to a user query. This ranking is changed afterward by the valorization of centralized Web documents. The valorization value is based on the document features and the user age. This value could be positive or negative implying thus the enhancement of the ranking of the concerned document or its rank decrease. Hence, the users of our information retrieval system can get different results according to their ages even submitting the same query.
Initially, a significant number of contextual information can be employed to describe the pervasive system. Hence, to design this type of system, there is a stern need for a new information system. Unlike the classical information system, the new system integrates the mobile devices characterized by different hardware and software capacity and other useful devices. Therefore, most pervasive information system designers provide mechanisms and architectures to effectively save, recover and submit the most relevant information to the user regardless of location, time and the user's equipment which are independent of the network constraints. In this paper, the authors present a model to describe the pervasive information system through the use of the existing contextual models. In the same context, they suggest a semantic description to adapt the users to six categories of contextual information by taking the semantic-web-service creation as a basis. Finally, they present the semantic rules applied to the intended description and notification system to validate these rules.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
