Intellectual disability is a complex dysfunction difficult to define accurately. According to Schalock et al. (2010), it is characterized by meaningful limitations in intellectual functioning and adaptive behaviour, expressed in conceptual, social and practical adaptive skills (Schalock et al., 2010).
