Online Banking has received a boost during Covid 19. It is believed that the cultured sector of the population has quickly adopted online banking since the outbreak of the virus. Online banking not only provides a platform for performing financial transactions but also acts as a medium of communication between the bank and the customer. Unlike rest of the world, perception of online banking came slightly late in the Kingdom of Bhutan, which already had a good network of banking access points for its populace, enabling the physical banking. However, due to lockdown observed in the aftermath of Covid-19, the online banking has established development in the country. In the present study, the researchers have confidence in that if the customer satisfaction can be ensured amongst the existing users of the online banking, then they will become dependable to such platform and would continue even in the post Covid-19 time. This study is imperative as the banking system of Bhutan has spent a significant number of resources in obtaining and implementing the online banking system, and sustainability of the system will be a point of concern for the decision makers.
This study aims to Identify the issue and problems faced by Omani farmers and to Identify the best solutions to fight the issues and challenges, by explaining the importance of the agricultural sector to the Sultanate of Oman, and the interest in developing and producing modern technologies to increase and develop agricultural production.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study is based on primary data collected from the farmers from one of the major Oasis regions of Oman i.e. Mahadha. A Questionnaire in dual language was administered for collecting the data. Findings:The agricultural sector badly needs the support of state institutions to reduce electricity prices, choose the right fertilizers for the soil, provide the necessary irrigation water, expand the lands, introduce modern technologies, expand agricultural greenhouses, and benefit from genetic engineering. The climatic conditions in the Sultanate ensure abundant agricultural production. Research Limitation:The data is collected only from the Mahadha area. However, the researchers relied on the close-ended questionnaire making this study based on quantitative analysis. Also, only descriptive statistics have been used to bring forward the issues and challenges faced by farmers. Managerial Implications:The importance of this study lies in understanding the most important problems and challenges faced by Omani farms in general, which may constitute an obstacle to them. Understanding these problems and trying to find logical solutions. This study has implications for the Ministry of Agriculture.Originality/Value: This study brings forward the ground issues from the side of the farmers in Oman. To the knowledge of the researchers, this study is the first of its kind to bring such issues to the public.
Purpose: Vertical Farming (VF) is a technique of growing food in vertically stacked layers or vertically inclined surfaces. Theoretically, it has the capability of growing any crops, fruits, or vegetables. The modern techniques of vertical farming through a controlled environment can support the growth and harvest of a crop irrespective of the season and climatic conditions. The newer modern techniques of VF have further reduced the dependency on sunlight, soil, and water. This paper analyses the appropriateness of vertical farming for developing countries like Oman. Design/Methodology/Approach: This paper is based on secondary data and establishes the arguments in favor and against vertical farming. Findings: The findings support the need for vertical farming and suggest that it is very appropriate for the urban setups, where it reduces the transportation cost and facilitates the availability of fresh and pesticide-less food products. Research Limitations: The major limitation of this paper is that it only accounts the secondary information, the empirical investigation is missing. Managerial Implications: This paper implies government policies, allied agencies, and the agricultural sector. Originality/Value: This paper is an original paper based on secondary data, providing a conceptual model for Oman, on which very limited studies in the given context is available.
This chapter presents a social capital point of view of entrepreneurship and how the assets and value embedded in entrepreneur social relations could support the success of the enterprise, especially small ones. Social connections are unique in nature, are personal and stable in the long run. These features make them very unique and difficult to imitate. Therefore, if used properly, based on the position of the entrepreneur in the social hierarchy, it can generate or at least behave as a very unique and inimitable source of competitive advantage. Capitalizing on such resources could be of help to entrepreneurs especially in times of high competitive rivalry.
