Este estudo tem o objetivo de explorar como os indivíduos portadores de HIV através da transmissão vertical compreendem a sua situação sorológica, enfocando o pertencimento social e as condições psicológicas dessa população. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo. Foram realizadas oito entrevistas com adolescentes, na faixa etária de 12 a 16 anos, portadores de HIV por transmissão vertical e pacientes de ambulatórios públicos da cidade de Porto Alegre. Foi utilizada a Análise de Conteúdo na apreciação dos dados. Os resultados desse estudo mostram que quanto antes for a revelação do diagnóstico para o adolescente, mais fácil de ele lidar com o mesmo, tornando simplificada a aceitação do diagnóstico. Foi significativa a culpabilização da mãe pela infecção. Embora possuam uma problemática semelhante, questões como tratamento, conhecimentos sobre a doença, relacionamentos afetivos, rede de apoio e auto-imagem tornam-se singulares a partir de cada experiência. THE HEIRS OF AIDS: THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE SEROLOGICAL CONDITION OF VERTICAL TRANSMISSION BY INFECTED TEENAGERS ABSTRACT:This study aims to explore how HIV positive individuals affected through vertical transmission understand their serological situation, focusing on social inclusion and psychological conditions of that population. It is a qualitative study. Eight interviews were conducted with adolescents aged 12 to 16 years, HIV by vertical transmission and patients from public ambulatories in Porto Alegre, RS. In the appraisal of the data it was used the Content Analysis. The results of this study show that, as before is the revelation of the diagnosis, the easier it is for teenagers dealing with the same, making simplified its acceptance. It was significant to blame the mother by infection. Although having a similar problem, issues such as treatment, knowledge about the disease, affective relationships, support network and self-image become natural from each experience.
