ResumoOs transtornos alimentares são caracterizados como quadros psiquiátricos que levam a graves danos psicológicos e sociais. Dentre os principais transtornos destacam-se a anorexia nervosa e a bulimia nervosa, que têm como característica comum a preocupação excessiva com o corpo e o medo intenso de engordar. Nos últimos anos, a prevalência e incidência desses transtornos têm aumentado significativamente, principalmente entre as mulheres. A carência nutricional e as práticas de purgação para controle de peso resultam em diversas manifestações clínicas bucais. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar, através de uma revisão de literatura, as manifestações bucais da anorexia nervosa e bulimia nervosa, além de contextualizar a participação do cirurgião-dentista na abordagem multiprofissional desses transtornos. O cirurgião-dentista pode ser o primeiro profissional a suspeitar do diagnóstico desses dois transtornos. Assim, é imprescindível que este esteja apto a reconhecer tais manifestações e encaminhar o paciente para tratamento multiprofissional. AbstractEating disorders are characterized as psychiatric conditions that lead to severe psychological and social damage. Among the main highlights are the disorders anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa that have in common a preoccupation with the body and intense fear of gaining weight. In recent years, the prevalence and incidence of these disorders have increased significantly, especially among women. Nutritional deficiency, associated with the practice of purging to control weight, results in various clinical mouth manifestations. The objective of this paper is to present, through a literature review, oral manifestations of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, and contextualize the participation of dentists in the multidisciplinary approach of these disorders. The dentist may be the first professional to suspect the diagnosis of anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa and what possible actions play educational, preventive and curative, holistic approach to help patients. Thus, it is indispensable that he is able to recognize such events and thus refer the patient to a transdisciplinary treatment.
