PurposeOrganisations may be considered, at the same time, either part of the problem or part of the solution for the social‐environmental crisis that is occurring. To be part of the solution, they must head for a strategic management of corporate social responsibility (CSR). The objective of the present study is to identify and analyse the interfaces between theoretical models of strategic implementation of CSR and the variables and major players involved in this process.Design/methodology/approachThis is a qualitative research using a case study strategy. The company chosen for this case study has been highlighted as one of the best national companies to work for, with significant social responsibility indices.FindingsThe case study found some results, such as the importance of aligning with human resource management for strategic implementation of CSR and the integrative characteristic between different workers, that are essential for this process.Originality/valueOnly a few international articles discuss CSR in Brazil. The results could be useful for classes focusing on “Doing business in Brazil”.

O objetivo deste artigo é propor uma definição comum ao termo “Inovação Ambiental”, partindo-se de uma sistematização de literatura, englobando alguns dos mais expressivos artigos da área. A definição de inovação ambiental proposta neste artigo envolve as principais dimensões, motivações e barreiras à efetividade da Inovação Ambiental enquanto prática nas organizações. Considera-se que a Inovação Ambiental é pressuposto da Gestão Ambiental pró-ativa. Como resultado, espera-se apresentar uma definição sistematizada sobre o conceito de inovação ambiental, que é de crescente relevância para a transição rumo a uma sociedade mais sustentável.   Palavras-chaves: Inovação Ambiental; Gestão Ambiental; Conceito; Barreiras

Ouro Preto representa uma importante rota turística que se caracteriza por oferecer tanto ao turista brasileiro quanto ao estrangeiro uma gama diversificada de opções, com destaque aos atrativos naturais e histórico-culturais. Os autores deste estudo descrevem e analisam os aspectos legais, patrimoniais, administrativos e recursos humanos dos estabelecimentos hoteleiros de Ouro Preto a fim de compreender as dificuldades, fragilidades e eficiências no setor. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo- exploratório subsidiado na entrevista com gestores em hotelaria. O estudo envolveu 92% dos estabelecimentos de hotelaria na cidade de Ouro Preto-MG. No computo geral observou-se que há diversidade em termos de infra-estrutura, no entanto os meios de hospedagem estão parcialmente alinhados à atividade turística. Vale salientar também que a ascensão do turismo de Ouro Preto depende de agentes de fomento oriundos da iniciativa pública e privada, considerando tratar-se de uma cidade Patrimônio Histórico. Para que haja avanço em termos de qualidade é fundamental que os gestores estabeleçam novos paradigmas e, ao mesmo tempo, invistam na formação e no treinamento dos recursos humanos
