Dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) usually occurs associated with a distal radius fracture. An isolated dislocation, without a radius fracture, is a rare situation. We present a case of neglected isolated DRUJ dislocation in a 30-year-old manual laborer. The treatment was performed 4 months after the initial injury. Open reduction and fixation were performed. This resulted in a stable, pain-free joint, and the patient resumed his previous work.Surgical techniques of foveal reattachment and dorsal capsuloplasty have been described for chronic DRUJ instability. An isolated and dislocated DRUJ is an uncommon injury that may be misdiagnosed and initially mistreated. There haven't been many reports in the literature of a case such as this.
Toxicity of pesticides to predaceous imites (Acari: Phvtoseiidae) on citrusThe effect of pesticides on the population of phvtoseiid imites was determined for six chemicais (bromopropylate, cyhexatin, dirnethoate, binapacryl, ou + malathion and ou me thvl thiophanate) commonly used for the control of citrus pests in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The evaluations were dona by air-sampiing before the application and at 4, and 14 days after the application of the nesticides. It was observed, after four days, that cvhexatin caused the ieast reduction on the population (45.7%); for the other pesticides, these percentages were 58.7 to 87.4%; the imites were most affected by binapacryl. At 14 days after application, ali the pesticides, except the mixture ou + methyl thiophanate, reduced the population of phytoseiid mites by 80% or more. This work presents an analitical chart and a dichotomic key which permit the identification of forty two leaf eating caterpillar's families from the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This families were choose between sixty nine represented in the ' 'IV Catãlogo dos insetos que vivem nas plantas do Brasil" published in 1968 by SILVA alii, where they are referred in that condition. Fifty five morfologicals characters selected from literature and examination of preserved materials were used. Twelve families wer'nt represented in the studied material. The characters after numbered were transfered to punched cards. One model of dichotomic key is presented including families not considered in previous works, followed by descriptions of the families, a glossary and several drawings.
Control of the Tobacco Aphid .Mvzus nicotianae Blackman (Homoptera: Aphididae) with Two Formulations of Acephate Chemical control ofthe tobacco aphid Myzus nicotianae Blackman was tested at the field, in Vera Cruz and Santa Cruz do Sul, RS. Two formulations ofacephate, Orthene 750-WP, and Orthene 50G-granulated, were tested with the dosages of 0.5 and 1.0 kg/ha, for the first formulation, and of 20, 30, and 40 kg/ha, for the second. Treatments were distributed in a completely randomized block design. In the first experiment, the granulated formulation was applied preventively, when seedlings were transplanted. In the second experiment, the granulated formulation was applied at the beginning ofM nicotianae infestation. The best control was obtained with the two dosages of Orthene 750, with 100% efficiency from 4 to 21 days after application, and 93% at the 30th day. The Orthene 50G was efficient (ca. 80%), only when applied with high dosages, at the beginning of the infestation period. KEY WORDS: Insecta, /vívzus nicotianae, tobacco, chemical control.
