Dyslipidemia is one of the risk factors of coronary heart disease and stroke. Unripe Berlin banana flour contains chemical compounds and nutrients that may affect lipid profile. This study aimed to determine the potential effects of unripe berlin banana flour on lipid profile, especially in dyslipidemia. This experiment was conducted from July to December 2018 at the Food Analysis Laboratory of State Polytechnic of Jember and the Biomedical Laboratory of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Jember using male wistar white rats weighed 150-200 g. The rats were then divided into a negative control group consisting of normal rats (K-), a positive control group consisting of dyslipidemia rats (K+), and a treatment group consisting of dyslipidemia rats that received 0.144 g unripe berlin banana flour (UBF). Dyslipidemia condition was achieved by administering high-fat diet (HFD) for 9 weeks. Unripe banana flour was fed to the treatment group starting from the 10th weeks for 4 weeks. The measurement of pre-intervention lipid profile was performed at 9th week while the post-intervention lipid profile was measured at 13th week. Data collected were analyzed using ANOVA. Results o showed that the Berlin unripe flour (UBF) could reduce total cholesterol and LDL levels. In addition, a decrease in HDL levels in treatment group with Berlin unripe banana flour (UBF) and in the negative control group (K-). The same decrease in HDL level was also seen in the dyslipidemia group (K+). Hence, it is concluded that Berlin banana flour has the potential to improve lipid profile in dyslipidemia rats.
Fresh milk is a liquid that comes from a clean, healthy cow's udder and is obtained through proper milking; it has not undergone any processing other than cooling to preserve its natural composition. Fresh cow's milk is rich in macro and micro nutrients, namely protein, vitamins and minerals. The purpose of this community service is to increase the knowledge and skills of housewives in Kemuning Lor Village, Arjasa District, Jember Regency. The process involves the presentation of the material, instruction in making milk candies and crispy fried milk, and evaluation. According to the post-test results, the participants were able to name the ingredients needed to make milk candy and crispy fried milk, and there were no obstacles or suggestions in the manufacturing process. Participants could also independently make milk candy and crispy fried milk.
Dislipidemia merupakan kelainan metabolisme lipid yang ditandai dengan peningkatan ataupun penurunan kadar fraksi lipid di dalam plasma. Salah satu tanda yang terjadi pada penderita dislipidemia yaitu penurunan kadar HDL(High Density Lipoprotein). HDL biasa dikenal sebagai kolesterol baik yang mana akan membawa kolesterol dari sel dan jaringan ke dalam hati. Pati resisten dan flavonoid berperan dalam meningkatkan kadar HDL. Tepung pisang berlin mentah yang mengandung pati resisten dan flavonoid. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh berbagai dosis dalam meningkatkan kadar HDL tikus wistar dislipidemia. Jenis penelitian ini adalah true-experimental dengan pre test - post test with control group design. Penelitian ini menggunakan 30 ekor tikus wistar jantan usia 2-3 bulan dengan berat badan 150-200 gram. Tikus dibagi menjadi lima kelompok (K-, K+, P1 0,144g/ekor/hari, P2 0,288g/ekor/hari, dan P3 0,576g/ekor/hari). Kadar HDL diperiksa dengan metode Presipitasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji One Way Anova untuk uji beda antar kelompok dan Paired T-Test untuk uji beda sebelum dan setelah perlakuan masing-masing kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak ada nilai signifikan antara semua kelompok sebelum diberikannya perlakuan, tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok sesudah perlakuan (p=0,512). Terdapat nilai signifikan pada kelompok (K-), (K+), (P1), (P3) tetapi tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada sebelum dan setelah pemberian pada kelompok P2, tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan selisih sebelum dan sesudah pemberian tepung pisang berlin. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa pemberian tepung pisang berlin mentah tidak berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan HDL pada tikus dislipidemia. Mortality and health disturbances in children often correlate with maternal health and fertility. Avocado, mung bean sprouts, and holy basil have been traditionally used to improve maternal health, before and during pregnancy. This study was aimed to assess the efficacy of herbal combination of avocado, mung bean sprouts, and holy basil (Jamu ATOKE) in optimizing reproductive health. Eighteen female Sprague Dawley rats (9–10 weeks old, BW: 180–250 g) were randomly divided into 3 treatment groups (n=6 rats for each group) of control, group I and II. ATOKE were added into rats drinking water and consumed for 30 days before pregnancy. After the rats were pregnant and gave birth, pup per parent ratio, pup mortality, and pup health performance (body weight gain, feed and drink consumption, motor activity, pup speed in finding light and feed, red blood cell (RBC) count, white blood cell (WBC) count and differential, SGPT, SGOT, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, and proinflammatory mediators (TNF-α and IL-6) were analyzed. Pups born to in group I had a generally better health performance compared to the control group. There was a 100% mortality in the litter of group II due to the excessive aggressive behavior of the dams as a sign of toxicity. Administration of 2.5% Jamu ATOKE showed the best effects on the health and intelligence of the rat pup.
