In this article we study the context in which the poem "Amor de Caridad" by Gerardo Diego was presented. The poet, born in Santander, dedicated the poem to San Juan de Dios and won, in 1950, the Floral Games which took place in Granada, on the occasion of the fourth centenary of the death of the saint. The bases, the convocation and the decision of the jury, that awarded first prize to Gerardo Diego, are exposed.
