Hydriding characteristics of LaNi 47Al0 .3 alloys with surfaces modified by high-purity anhydrous HF were evaluated after long-term preservation in air.Affected by poisoning species in air, untreated alloy hydriding activity was enormously decreased.HF-treated alloys with a modified surface layer containing metal fluoride NiF 2 , LaF 3 and AlF 3 maintained relatively high activity. In high-humidity air, metal fluoride NiF 2 reacted with moisture to form hydrous Ni (OH)2, and permeation of poisonous species such as O2, CO and CO 2 was markedly inhibited by moisture-condensed hydrate screens.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
