drop. The interest was in determination of mieromolar concentrations of ions, in the presence of other reducible ions in large excess. The instrument was switched to the controlled-potential mode, and a 10,000-ohm precision resistor was used for current measurement. Amplifier #6 wa,s set at a gain of 100. One microampere of current thus gave a signal at the output of amplifier 0 of 1 volt. The timing circuit and drop-removal hammer were used as described above.Cadmium in 10~6Jf concentration was determined in the presence of millimolar Cu+2 and Pb+2. The reproducibility was ±3% for the micromolar concentrations and ±1% for concentrations of 10~4 up. A complete analysis of the data and the methods used will be communicated at a later date.
The distributions of 57 metallic ions have been measured for three quaternary amines, tetrapropyl, tetrabutyl, and tetrahexyl, into methyl isobutyl ketone from five media, HNOs, H2SO4, HF, HCI, and NaOH, over the concentration range of 0.2 to 5N. Distribution data are presented as plots of per cent extraction vs. normality in a series of 5 periodic charts. Many separations for radiochemical and general analytical application are
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
