The fabrication and operation of Bragg gratings is reported with a view to their suitability for future wavelength-division multiplex (WDM) devices in integrated optical circuits. Crosstalk attenuations of more than 20 dB with respect to the optical power and spectral bandwidths of up to 2.2 nm were achieved. In addition, polarization-independent operation of Bragg gratings, an important qualification for their operation in fiber optical transmission systems, was demonstrated with a filter bandwidth of 0.2 nm at -10 dB and possible channel spacings as Low as 1 nm.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
