A aeo&ical invatigation is made of the Moasbauer shift in crystals containing exchange coupled magnetic ions. It is found that the shift is caused by the exchange interaction and &pen& on the degree of ordering of the spin system. In the present note the oscillations of the shift of the Mossbauer line in metals connected with the electron-phonon interaction are calculated. The relative shift of the Mossbauer line in a metal considering the interaction * + of conduction electrons with the lattice vibrations is proportional to g ( 6 , k , k )/ /(w (k j) -Q ( 6 , "p -5 ) ) (1). If the renormalized energy of the phonon hG(kj) comes near to the energy change of the electron hQ(G, $ -z), a fast increase of the shift of the Wossbauer line arises. Such resonance increase of the line shift will be observed only for electrons near the Fermi level as they take part in the thermal excitation of the system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
