The influence of the Sun‐spot frequency on the magnetic elements has been discussed by many investigators during recent years. The observations upon which the present investigation is based are those taken by the royal artillery during the years 1842–46 and published by Sabine in “Magnetical and Meteorological Observations”, Vol. 1. Cape of Good Hope. The period over which the observations extend is unavoidably limited so that it is impossible to say whether the results obtained are truly representative of a whole eleven‐year period.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
