A review is made of the problem of measuring the level of liquid chlorine in storage tanks and the importance of reliable level determination is discussed. The typcs of instrument industrially available are classified and the arrangement and operation of instruments of each type are described. The advantages and disadvantages in chlorine service of each instrument are discussed. Reference is made to a novel liquid chlorine depth gauge which depends on the difference in absorption of gamma radiation by liquid and gaseous chlorine.
