Schwannoma are relatively rare tumor and even rarer in children. Nerve sheath tumors arising from the cervical nerve are extremely rare. We report a 13-year old boy presented with a history of an asymptomatic right cervical swelling since one year. An ultrasound and FNAC revealed schwannoma. He was meticulously evaluated with MRI. Surgical excision of the lesion was carried out and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis. Patient recovered completely without any morbidity. We are presenting this case since it is a rare case and patient recovered without morbidity. It is possible to do the complete surgical excision of schwannoma with complete cure and without complication.
Sphenochoanal polyp is a rare clinical occurrence as compared to the much common antro-choanal polyp. It originates from the sphenoid sinus and extends into the choana via the sphenoid ostium. We present a case of spheno-choanal polyp and its clinical features and surgical management is discussed. Our aim in this case was to properly delineate the origin of the polyp and differentiate it from other lesions such as the antro-choanal polyp and meningocele, followed by meticulous endoscopic excision of the polyp.
The accessory parotid gland is salivary tissue adjacent to stenson's duct that is separated from the main parotid gland and lying on masseter muscle. It has secondary duct empting into the stenson's duct. The differential diagnosis of mid-cheek masses include pathology arising from normal anatomic structures or from variations of normal accessory parotid gland tissue. Surgical resection is the treatment of choice for the accessory parotid gland tumor. We report a case of accessory parotid gland with chronic sialadenitis in a 26 years old male with the diagnosis and treatment. Accessory parotid gland pathologies should be included in the differential diagnosis of a patient presently with a mid-cheek mass.
