1967, from the University of Cluj, Cluj, Rumania, during which time this paper was prepared, were proposed for the oxidation of alcohols by Leo and Westheimer2a and for the oxidation of arsenite by Mason and Kowalak.2b Similar intermediates could reasonably be expected in the chromate oxidation of thiosulfate, but until now no data were available on the kinetics of this reaction and the nature of the intermediates.
