After some 30 years of abortion law in most European countries, anti-abortion activitism is still strong. Fuelled in some cases (looking here at France and the UK) by pro-choice opposition and globalization (US influence and internationalization of the main anti-abortion groups), it is slowly changing in charactel: Threatened with marginalization in France after becoming almost synonymous with trnditional extreme-right Catholic values and demographic nationalism, it is Jighting this one-sided image. In the UK, having tactically enlisted Muslim support, it looks for international economic and ethical jut$cation. Although second-or third-generation activism is developing in Western Europe, Central and EasternEurope are experiencing theJirst steps, since abortion was, under Socialism, the accepted and recommended form of birth control.
