It is important to evaluate ocular traumas in athletes as they can cause visual loss as blindness. This study aims to evaluate the epidemiology of ocular injuries and their characteristics in students aged from 19 to 23 years old in Albania. This is a 3-month study that started in November 2021 and ended in February 2022. 489 students of the University of Sports participated in the study. They answered a questionnaire about their demographic data and history of ocular injuries during sports activities. Students who reported ocular injuries underwent ocular examinations to evaluate their vision and ocular injuries characteristics. Only 7% of students reported that they had ocular injuries. Ball and teammates were reported with high frequencies as cause of eye injury. Only one student appeared to have reduced vision and damage to the structure of the eye. Sports-related ocular injuries can cause decrease of vision and the use of protective equipment during sports activities would prevent these injuries. Football and boxing were most commonly sports associated with ocular injuries among students in our study. This study points to the importance of preventing eye damage during sports activities by using preventive equipment, and opens the door for taking initiatives regarding the rules of using preventive equipment during sports activities.
This study aims to provide detailed information about HPV as a widespread sexually transmitted infection, which is considered one of the most important factors in the occurrence of cervical cancer in young girls, emphasizing the connection between infection.Participants were 126 randomly choosed young girls at the master's level student at Sport University of Tirana.Date were collected using a questionnaire investigating risk factors as well as knowledge on this sexually transmitted infection of HPV where through a descriptive and informative letter which was distributed to all girls participating in this study. From this study it was observed that a significant number of them were aware of the virus and ways of transmission 81 girls (64.28%),of which 22 girls (17.46%) had in hearing that it was a sexually transmitted virus, 11 girls (8.73%) had read that this virus could cause cervical cancer, 9 (7.14%) of whom had heard of an HPV-related vaccine, while 3 of them (2.39) refused to complete this questionnaire. From the data collected in this study it was noticed that information and awareness campaigns should be carried out immediately for this age group as the most at risk in relation to sexually transmitted infections and in particular HPV,enabling in this form the ability to care more specifically for their health thus preventing very dangerous pathologies such as cervical cancer. However for this aspiration to be realized,in practice requires a greater understanding on the part of these young girls of the natural history of early HPV infection and its role in creating cervical epithelial abnormalities.
It is important that in educational institutions to develop trainings and classes with a focus on health education and the acquisition of necessary knowledge. This study aims to give a specific approach regarding the importance of health education promotion in educational institutions with a focus on educational and health-educational activities in particular based on health and which aims to increase the level of health education to learn and implement healthy behaviours. In this study were included 130 students in elementary and secondary schools aged 14-18,of whom (n=81) females and (n=49) males. The questionnaire was based on the knowledge of these students about health promotion and education as well as organizational activities related to health education by progressing in terms of the level of knowledge, attitudes and behaviours related to health. In the results of this survey was observed that a small number of them 21% had information on the promotion and development of various activities related to health. With a total of 56% women and 44% men responding that some form of activities or programs to promote public health such as posters or tasks related to certain topics have started to be developed by teachers. The lack of these activities and promotional programs requires that in the future to increase support in this direction enabling to plan in detail the development of educational and health promotional activities where the information is scientifically based and the way of communication and information is as clear and accurate as possible to have more acceptability, liking and the highest reliability.Key words: Health education, promotion, young people, educational institutions1.
CRVO and BRVO can cause macular edema with the decrease of visual acuity. Treatment with anti-VEGF for macular edema in patients with RVO is now the best choice to improve the visual acuity and the life quality of the patients. Considering the role of VEGF as one of the main factors in the development of macular edema, this study aims to examine the anatomical and functional long-term effects of the use of anti-VEGF intravitreal drugs in the treatment of secondary macular edema caused by RVO. This is a retrospective study, where 25 patients diagnosed with macular edema following RVO were included. Patient Visual acuity with Snellen chart, intraocular pressure, fluorangiography, and OCT was done on all the patients in their first visit. The patients were treated with intravitreal Aflibercept and were followed up for 2 years. The results of this study revealed that aflibercept was effective in patients that have macular edema following RVO, in maintaining or improving visual acuity in a long-term follow-up of 26.2 ± 7.6 months and in terms of reducing macular edema. Compared to one-third of CRVO patients, BRVO patients appear to have a better prognosis because 75% presented ≥6 / 12 visual acuity at the end of the follow-up period. Our results also suggest that intraretinal fluid and macular cystoid edema with increased TCF were associated with adverse visual outcomes. The integrity of outer retinal layers influences the improvement of BCVA, the damage in the photoreceptor can lead to poor visual acuity.
