Equations are derived to express the thermodynamic equilibrium between a mixed adsorbate and gas, assuming the validity of the mobile fluid model for the surface phase. Solution of these equations permits the total adsorption and surface composition to be calculated for a mixed isotherm from pure component adsorption data. New experimental data are presented for high pressure adsorption of methane, propane, butane, and their mixtures on charcoal.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
