<p>We consider a fractional-order model of glucose and insulin interaction based on the intra-venous glucose tolerance test (IVGTT). We show the existence of the model's solution, uniqueness, non-negativity, and boundadness. In addition, for the proposed fractional-order model, we establish sufficient conditions for stability or instability. Some conditions for bifurcation in the proposed model are presented using bifurcation theory. Further, in the case of first order the model is discretized by applying the forward Euler scheme. We investigate how small the time step size must be chosen to guarantee that the steady state solution is an attractive fixed point of the discretized model. Numerical simulations that we provided support the analytical results.</p>
Purpose: To evaluate evaluation of the erectile function and mood changes in male patients with Hansen's disease (HD). Methods: this study was conducted on fForty males (40) confirmed patients with Hansen's disease were enrolled in this research., theAll patients were subjected to the underwent the following: full Hhistory taking, International index of erectile function (IIEF-5), Beck anxiety scale and Beck depression scale. Results: About 77.5% of our patients had erectile dysfunction, and 87.5% of patients showed anxiety disorders. while While 52.5% of patients showed depressive disorders and, 27.5% of patients had abnormal free testosterone levels. There was A high negative significant correlation revealed between IIEF-5 score and deformity grading, but with there was no significant association between duration or type of leprosy and psychiatric disorders. The results showed significant negative correlation between IIEF-5 and Beck depression inventory. But no statistical significant difference regarding free testosterone level (p-value=0.109) was found between erectile dysfunction (ED) group and non ED group. Conclusion: Erectile dysfunction, anxiety and depression are very common in among patients with Hansen's disease. and sSuch problems are related to level of deformity not to type or duration of disease and not related to testosterone level. This finding could be of key importance for the clinical practice because it could modify the current management of patients with Hansen's disease.
Purpose: was to evaluate the influence of surface treatment of implant retained mandibular overdenture on peri-implant bone density. Resorbable Blast Media (RBM) implant surface treatment and acid etched implant surface treatment were used. Materials and Methods: Ten completely edentulous male patients were rehabilitated by mandibular over denture retained by two dental implants in the interforaminal region, the one on the right side was acid etched and the left side was with resorbable blast media (RBM). Peri-implant bone density was assessed with cone beam computed tomography at the time of implant loading, six months and twelve months after denture insertion. Results: There was no significant difference between Acid etched and RBM dental implants on the peri-implant bone density during the follow up period. Conclusion: Within the limitations of the number of studied patients it could be stated that Acid etched and RBM dental implants fulfill the criteria of dental implant success and are recommended to be used.
Background: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by abdominal pain with altered bowel habits. Proposed etiological mechanisms include altered gastrointestinal motility, visceral hypersensitivity, abnormal pain processing in the central nervous system, low grade inflammation, following enteric infection, altered psychological state and imbalances in the intestinal flora. Discovering the possible associating factors enables us to provide a better quality of life for IBS patients.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
