This research uses qualitative research in which the data are in the form of words and sentences in this novella. This study applies the documentary method as the technique of data collection. The data can be taken from various sources, such as documents, books, and journals. This research shows that Gregor Samsa’s alienation has influenced his entire life, family, and society.
Ranciere is a political thinker who wants to give a spirit of optimism in citizenship equality. This spirit sparks in his view of democracy which he emphasizes not in consensus but dissensus. This means that democracy focuces more on disagreement rather than agreement of the winner in electoral vote because for him democracy should instead focus on votes that were not won. This is an ethical question why those who are marginalized are not accomodated. Only by dissensus, appropriateness and distribution of socio-cultural roles always be transformative and dynamic. In literary works, marginalized voices are important because it is locus of conflict This means that there are undemocratic nuances in literary works which are also the main issue. On the other hand, this also proves that democracy is a struggle that is never final because there is no absolute victory, that is, it is impossible to win votes in total. Hence, there is always a reason why there are votes that are not won? As a result, the consensus of winners is constantly questioned through dissensus since there is disagreement, or reconsideration for the sake of conditions for equitable distribution of justice. Ranciere traces all the problems of democracy not only in the world of politics but also in culture and even literature, which is indeed is full of discrimination that perpetuates the social hierarchy. Thus, this paper wants to provide a conceptual framework for democratization practices in the literary and cultural space by referring to Ranciere's thoughts in order to prevent works not only good representations but also questioned majority-based truth.
Online gaming today is not only seen as leisure activity for children but also for specific purposes for adults. Criminal case has a specific interest in the adult players to get along with the cyberspace. The game offers the players the opportunity to play a role as a detective who has to solve crime. The game is indeed not designed for kids due to its specific requirement to understand clear instructions inside the gameplay. This research, however, applies the concept of automodernity to establish the idea that criminal case has potential immersive experience for the game player, especially because of 'the free choices' features such as making avatar or the profile, buying coins, and competing with other players. The method used in this research is the interviews on pro players who have been playing more than 12 hours a day. The result shows the quality of autonomy for the players in making free choices. The choices they made on the game triggered for more competing desire toward other players thus buying items becomes their need. The other features such as designing avatar and making deduction are rather accessory on the game. The illusion of making free choices or autonomy for the players to enjoy in the cyberspace is the immersive experience they desire which they cannot have in the actual life. The actual and virtual realities become blur since they somehow connected to other competing players, they become friend in real life.
Cinematic capability in the movie "Starter For 10" is to remind that eroticism or intimacy is able to surpass the optical regime or gaze as initiated by Mulvey‟s feminist film theory. Deleuze purposes haptic vision, which later on developed by Marks into Haptic Visuality as cinematic ability to dismantle subject-object relation within Mulvey‟s idea that assumed women body only as pleasure.Eroticism offered in the film is able to perform haptic visuality where the audience has a sense of being touched when the eye is no longer able to accommodate the information and the optical has loss its control. Haptic vision allows both to be object because the sensations move to the other senses. Thus, Alice Eve is not only an object but also invites the audience to be the object as well when the other senses are active. Eroticism presented in the film is no longer busy looking for subject and object but more into a unity where deterministic category is no longer exist.
