Abstract, ddontorhiua cyclin BERRY, 1947 is widely distributed on the continental borderland of southern California. It is a fannal element I n every major habitat type including two of the outer deep basins, Santa Cruz Basin and 8an Nicolas Basin. On the mainland shelf it is discontinuously distributed from Point Conception to the USDiexican Border. The depth distribution of Adonforhincc reflects the fact that it inhahits both topographic highs and some of the deep basins of the tmrderland. Tts depth range is from 11.6 to 1,886.0 meters. While rldonforhina is able to inhabit H N ide range of sediment types, from 1.5 to 8.1 mean phi, it was primarily collect.ed from locations n here sediments ranged from 3 to 5 mean phi. A direrse array of macrofaunal taxa is associated with ddontorhina. The nrimerically dominant t a m varied from habitat to habitat.
SUMMARY
Land plant debris occurs in appreciable quantities in the shelf sediments off Ventura, southern California. Concentrations range from less than 2 g (wet weight)/1 (less than 250 g/m2) to 53 g/1 (10,662 g/m2). The highest values are found near the outer edge of the shelf.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
