The present paper presents new records of bryophytes for the state of Ceará. The sampling was carried out in three areas of mountain forest of the state: Serra da Ibiapaba, Serra da Meruoca and Serra de Uruburetama. The analysis, identification and conservation of the samples were made in the biodiversity laboratory and deposited in the Herbarium HUESPI, Universidade Estdual do Piauí, Campus Heróis do Jenipapo. Six new occurrences were listed for the state of Ceará, being Zelometeorium ambigum (Hornsch.) Manuel. new occurrence for the Northeast and Groutiella chimboranzensis (Spruce ex Mitt.) Florsch. cited before only for the state of Pará. The results demonstrate the significant bryophyte richness in the state, showing the need for continuity of studies on the region.
