RAINFALL IN NORTH GAÚCHO: A STUDY OF RAINFALL TREND AND CLIMATE CHANGE ABSTRACT:This study evaluates trends in annual, quarterly and monthly rainfall of Upper Uruguay gaucho region in the period 1957-2014, to look for evidences of climate change. Qualitative evaluation of the linear trends was performed by the Mann-Kendall test. The results showed that the behavior of rainfall (annual, quarterly and monthly) varied depending on the largest scale phenomena (ENSO, "South Mode"). The results of the Mann-kendall test showed that the trend of annual, quarterly and monthly rains has no evidence of climate change for the Upper Uruguay gaucho region. Thus, the behavior of the data and its trends are due to the natural variability of the subtropical rain in Brazil.
