Background: Immunohistochemical studies of lymphatic vessels have been limited by a lack of specific markers. Recently, the novel D2-40 antibody, which selectively marks endothelium of lymphatic vessels, was released. The aim of our study is to compare lymphatic and blood vessel invasion detected by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) versus that detected by immunohistochemistry, relating them with morphologic and molecular prognostic factors.
SP3 is more sensitive than mouse monoclonal antibodies for Her2 assessment. However, HercepTest, CB11 and 4D5 show higher specificity than SP3 for the identification of HER2 gene amplification. Mouse monoclonal antibodies show less Her2 2+ tumours; most are amplified by CISH.
Lymphatic and blood vessel invasion identified in H&E and IHC-stained slides are positively related to the rmetastatic status of axillary lymph nodes and are predictive of axillary lymph node metastases in breast cancer.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
