Three anthocyanins were isolated from the acidified methanolic extract of blue flowers of Vicia villosa Roth (hairy vetch) by a combination of ion-exchange resin and gel filtration. Mostly on the basis of homo-and heteronuclear two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance techniques, their structures were elucidated to be the 3-O-R-rhamnopyranoside-5-O--glucopyranosides of petunidin (71%), delphinidin (12%), and malvidin (9%), respectively.
