Degranulation of rat mast cells (MCs) involves specific proteins such as the synaptosomal-associated protein of 23 kDa (SNAP-23) and syntaxin 4. Eosinophilic granule cells (EGC S ) in teleosts have been proposed to be the functional equivalent of MCs in mammals. By immunocytochemistry it was found to be an expression of SNAP-23 and syntaxin 4 in peritoneal EGC S /MCs from tilapia, suggesting their participation in the degranulation process.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
