Rhenium diselenide (ReSe 2 ) is a kind of VIIB transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) with a unique distorted 1T structure which is different from the VIB TMDs (MoS 2 , WS 2 , MoSe 2 , WSe 2 , etc), resulting in its special optical properties. In this work, we proposed and demonstrated a passively Qswitched Ybdoped fiber laser using ReSe 2 as a saturable absorber (SA). ReSe 2 nanosheets were prepared by liquid phase exfoliation method and mixed with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to form a SA compatible with fiber. By inserting the ReSe 2 PVA film into the two fiber ferrules of the fiber laser, a stable Qswitched operation at 1.06 µm was achieved. It had a maximum output power of 1.21 mW with a maximum pulse energy of 30.4 nJ and a minimum pulse duration of 2.27 µs. This work realizes a Qswitched fiber laser with stable performance based on the ReSe 2 prepared using a low cost, simple and scalable method.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
