A self‐inducing template‐growth approach to the production of nanofibers of 1,3‐diphenyl‐2‐pyrazoline (DP) in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) in an aqueous phase is discussed (see picture). Not only the surfactant CTAB molecules assume the role of surface‐active colloidal stabilizers; but also the rodlike CTAB micelles, which are induced by DP molecules dissolved in spherical CTAB micelles, further direct the growth of cylindrical DP nanofibers like templates. It is found that the crystal‐packing forces drive the DP molecules to self‐assemble as J‐type aggregates in nanofibers.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
