0.75 Mn 0.25 O 3 crystallizes in the space group R3c with Z = 6 and high pressure BiFe0.75Mn0.25O3 in the space group Pnma with Z = 16 (PbZrO3-related type structure). The structure of the high pressure phase is antiferroelectric and combines an intricate octahedral tilting pattern with displacements of the Bi atoms and deformations of the (FeMn)O6 octahedra. Both ambient and high pressure phases undergo an antiferromagnetic ordering at 485 and 520 K, resp., and develop a weak net magnetic moment at low temperatures.
