Resumen. La historiografía de la guerra civil ha experimentado una intensa evolución en las últimas décadas. Los estudios sobre la violencia en ambas retaguardias han sido uno de los temas que ha encabezado esta evolución, pero aún queda mucho camino por recorrer incluso en este ámbito. En este artículo se propone el estudio de la retaguardia como vía para completar el estudio del desarrollo del conflicto y del fenómeno de la violencia a través del caso de Madrid. But there still is a long way to go, even within this topic. This paper proposes the study of the home front as a way to complete the knowledge of the conflict and the violence phenomenon through the study of Madrid during the Civil War.
