Cotton is most important fiber plant having different fiber properties in the world. This study was carried out to increase yield and ginning outturn of seven interspecific (G hirsutum L. x G barbadense L.) pure (F9) lines of cotton. For this, lines were hybridized with Stoneville 468 and Claudia cultivars which belonging to G hirsutum L. genus, in 2018, by Line x Tester mating design. Then, 14 F1 Hybrids were sown with 9 parents according to Randomized Complate Block Design with three replications, in 2019, in Kahramanmaras. In the results of study, BGKM-3 x Stoneville 468 and BGKM-5 x Claudia F1 hybrids had been found very significant for yield and acceptable ginning outturn with good fiber properties. Morever, while BGKM-3 x Stoneville 468 hybrid showed positive for specific combination ability (SCA) in seed cotton yield and ginning outturn, BGKM-3 line showed very important for general combination ability (GCA) in terms of yield and fiber length. Also, Stoneville 468 tester showed important GCA both fiber fineness and ginning outturn. Inheritance for seed cotton yield have been found higher than other traits and determined both environmental and dominant genes are effective on the seed cotton yield. Besides, contribution of lines on total variance were found higher than both testers and lines x testers interaction, excluding fiber fineness.
ÖzPamuk üretiminde yüksek verim, çeşitlerin genetik potansiyeline, yetiştirildiği çevre koşullarına ve kültürel işlemlere göre farklılık gösterebilmektedir. Pamukta (Gossypium hirsutum L.) kütlü verimi üzerine, farklı çevre koşulları ve genotip x çevre ilişkisinin yanı sıra genotiplere ait uyum yetenekleri ile kararlılıkların belirlendiği bu çalışmada, on iki pamuk genotipi (11 çeşit ve 1 hat) kullanılmıştır. Adaptability and Stability Analysis of Some Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) Cultivars in East Mediterranean and GAP Region (South-Eastern Anatolia Project) Conditions AbstractThe main goal of cotton breeding is high yield that affected by the genetic potential of genotypes, environment and cultural applications during the season. This study was conducted to evaluate adaptability and stability of twelve cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L) genotypes in four different environments (Kahramanmaraş, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır and Kızıltepe/Mardin) in Turkey and effects of genotype x environment interaction on seed cotton yield in the years of 2006 and 2007. The all experiments in the environments were conducted as randomized complete blocks design with three replications. As average of two years, significant differences were determined among environments,
In this study, reciprocal F6 and F9 hybrid generations with a natural green-colored fiber were examined. They are offspring of Gossypium barbadense L. (Giza 45) and Gossypium hirsutum L. Giza 45 variety having high fiber quality values was crossed with a cotton genotype from Gossypium hirsutum L. having green color and poor fiber. The study was carried out in 2006 (F6) and 2010 (F9) years at the East Mediterranean Transitional Zone Agricultural Research of Institute in Augmented Design. All plots were arranged 12 m length with 0.70 m space between two rows, and 0.15 m space between plants in same row. In the study, the values of seed cotton yield, gin turn out, fiber yield, fineness, length, strength and uniformity were examined and the reciprocal F6 and F9 generations were compared on the averages of these properties. As a result of research, it was determined that reciprocal hybrids have similarity with respect to seed cotton yield, gin turnout, fiber yield, fiber fineness and fiber strength, except uniformity ratio and fiber length.
