In solid state conditions, the biodegradation of lignocelluloses by Rigidoporus lignosus was greatly stimulated when compared with liquid cultures. The ligninolytic activity of the fungus was particularly enhanced. Moreover, it has been shown that these cultures conditions strongly promoted the excretion of two ligninolytic enzymes, laccase and Mn‐peroxidase. The ligninolytic activity reached a maximum when the two enzymes were present at the same time in the medium, which suggests that they could act in a complementarity way during lignin degradation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
